South America
I spent a few unforgettable months traveling through South America—an experience full of adventure, culture, and personal growth. I began in Chile with my cousin, where we spent three weeks exploring the stunning landscapes of the northern region. While the language barrier challenged our Spanish skills and navigating the country wasn’t always easy, the beauty of Chile’s deserts, mountains, and unique towns made it well worth the effort.
From there, I continued on to Argentina solo, where I spent five weeks immersed in the country’s rich culture and diverse landscapes. I explored the dramatic beauty of Patagonia, felt the power of Iguazú Falls, sipped wine in Mendoza, wandered the streets of Buenos Aires, and visited Puerto Tombo—home to over a million penguins! I even took a quick trip to Uruguay, where I found peace in the country’s calm, coastal charm.
Next, I headed north to Ecuador, where I explored Quito, hiked near Cotopaxi, and experienced the otherworldly wildlife of the Galápagos Islands. I ended my journey in Colombia—one of my favorite stops. From vibrant cities to lush mountains and breathtaking beaches, Colombia had it all. By this point, my Spanish had improved enough to carry small conversations, which made the experience even more rewarding. It was a few months filled with discovery, connection, and adventure—and I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
